Students will create a theater piece using the Dr. Seuss classic as a jumping off point! This series of workshops include:
Writing and creating stories that we tell theatrically using the characters from the Lorax!
A focus on point of view storytelling: Remember the Brown Bar-ba-loots? The Humming Fish? The Swomee-Swans? If we told their story, what would it be?
Learn collaborative storytelling techniques by reimagining a classic story as a team.
Using hands-on activities weekly workshops will include: Planning, visualizing, and designing characters; writing scenes, shaping the environment using found space and objects, props, costumes and soundscapes, and using collective physicality and movement to imagine this world as a group.
Create a theater piece using your imagination!
ALSO AVAILABLE AS AN IN SCHOOL WORKSHOP. Email us info@lookuplab.org if interested.
Young artists train in the Lab Ensemble devising process, design and storytelling techniques once a week during the semester focusing on point of view stories using The Lorax as our inspiration. The ensemble meets with master teaching artists to create and workshop an original, theater piece to be presented on the last day of class.
